Bio

I am Sanjay Oruganti, a post-doctoral researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I work with Prof. Sergei Nirenburg at the LEIA lab, focusing on the development of the HARMONIC framework (Human-AI Robotic Team Member Operating with Natural Intelligence and Communication) in Cognitive Robotics.

I obtained my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Georgia in 2022, with my dissertation on “Exploiting Emergence, Heterogeneity, and Knowledge Transfer in Multi-Agent Systems.” My research areas include Cognitive Robotics, Heterogeneous Multi-Agent Systems, and advanced knowledge representation frameworks.

Prior to my Ph.D., I obtained my MS in Engineering (2017) from the University of Georgia and a B.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering from SASTRA University (2011). I have over a decade of research, teaching, and industrial experience. I am interested in research collaborations and also developing new pedagogic strategies in STEM education.

Outside my professional life, I enjoy playing badmintion and cricket (team India all the way!), a novice singer, an avid gamer particularly fond of strategy games and enjoy reading books on history and science fiction.
